Monde Kreisen” – Free Improvisation between Lucidity, Grotesque, and Sonic Poetry
The debut album of the duo Sara Käser (cello) & Natalie Peters (voice)
The duo of Sara Käser (cello) and Natalie Peters (voice) plays freely improvised music – uncompromising, radical, and immediate. For more than ten years, the two artists have been developing a shared musical language that moves beyond stylistic categories: raw, poetic, vulnerable – and always in direct contact with the audience.
In their interplay a flow emerges between conscious and unconscious realities, between dream and heightened wakefulness. They resonate with the conditions of the space and its surroundings, creating strong atmospheres and unexpected contrasts. Their music is always a reaction to the moment – open, changeable, deeply present.
The music of Käser & Peters is never planned but arises in the here and now. It can be delicate and fragile, eruptive and absurd, grotesque or disturbingly comic – often reminiscent of Butoh. Body, voice, and sound space merge into a total experience that deeply involves the audience.
With their uncompromising practice, Käser and Peters are internationally recognized as radical improvisers. Their musical language seems at first intimately linked to their personalities, yet in dialogue with outside influences and aesthetic visions it dissolves and unfolds new dynamics. Their sonic textures are wild and fragile, simple and complex at the same time – always permeated by an inner breath that carries and transforms the transience of their music.
It is a search for the wondrous, a state of astonishment that turns every moment into an intense experience, while at the same time inviting us to let go of what has just been experienced.
In 2025 they release their first studio album “Monde Kreisen” on the sublabel of Unit Records. The recordings were made in October 2024 at Morphin Raum Berlin and will be presented on an international release tour through Austria, Switzerland, and Spain.
The music on Monde Kreisen is a sonic response to a poem of the same name by Natalie Peters – a text woven from linguistic fragments, inner flickers, visions, and fields of memory. Social and political movements in Berlin, as well as Charles Gleyre’s painting Le Déluge, also served as impulses for the production.
Amid global crises, Käser & Peters turn their focus to the living, to cyclical movements, to moments of pause. Their music invites close listening – it is art of presence, resistance, and transformation at once.
“In their improvisations they explore at times extreme timbres and dynamics, while maintaining a constant tension through their unusual technical skills and deep understanding of musical expression. Monde Kreisen offers food for thought and countless moments of rare beauty – yet to experience Sara and Natalie live, to perceive their bodily vitality in interplay with the music, is an opportunity not to be missed.”
